First Weeks!

Summary: Officially this is our first full week of Spring Semester 2012 and we have been working our butts off. It started out Sunday with a three hour dance practice, then this morning we sent representatives (Ricky, Susie, and Jasper) from Waqaa and Wooch.een to attend a hearing, finally tonight we had our first meeting which was highly attended.

The Hearing: This morning representatives from our club Waqaa and Wooch.een attended the Senate State of Affairs Committee Hearing on Senate Bill 130. Due to a schedule change SB 130 was moved to be heard last out of the group of bills on the agenda today. The first two bills took up the time allotted so our bill got bumped to Thursday (not on the BASIS Schedule yet). This gives us a great opportunity to gather up more supporters and refine our testimonies. Expect to hear more from this once Thursday comes around.

Senate Bill 130 is sponsored by Senator Olson. Send him letters of support for this bill!

Fundraising/Goals: Our goal this semester is to raise enough funds to attend the Cama-I Dance Festiva in Bethel, Alaska. We plan to execute this plan by fund raising like crazy. So far we will be working with our good friends Wooch.een and joining in on grand fund raising events with them. More will come later when we finalize our plans.

Dancing: We had our first dance practice it lasted three hours! This group is lead by our fearless leaders Nae and Anastasia. There knowledge and willingness to teach us is very much appreciated. Meetings will be Sundays 2-4 at the Rec Center.

This semester will be full of learning, teaching and growing! Please join us on Tuesday Nights 5-6PM!
